DESCRIPTION
This 30-hour course is designed to introduce the students to the theory and practice required to read plans and blueprints. The students will apply the fundamentals of blueprint interpretations. Students will also read floor scaled plans, elevation plans, section drawings, detailed drawings, plot plans, line diagrams, schematics, and specifications related to the electrical trade.
This course is designed to introduce students to a variety of symbols used across the building trades that impact the work of an electrician. Students will have the opportunity to practice using various forms of symbols from a drawing to determine the electrical requirements. This course is to familiarize the student with not only with drawings, schematics and specifications but also with the knowledge to organize materials/ supplies and how to prepare the job site. The course will also focus on trade terminology, proper communication techniques and the required documentation necessary in the field. Essentially, print reading skills, coupled with a solid trade knowledge background, allow electricians and other trades to work efficiently on the job site.
