DESCRIPTION

This 30-hour course is designed to introduce the students to cabling issues related to data and voice connections and provides an understanding of the industry and its worldwide standards, types of media and cabling, physical and logical networks, as well as signal transmission. Students will develop skills in reading network design documentation, part list set up, pulling and mounting cable, cable management, choosing wiring closets and patch panel installation and termination; as well as installing jacks and cable testing. Areas of study will include; safety, installation and termination methods, electrical code and blueprint reading.

The hands-on component will include cutting, stripping, terminating and testing of structured wiring cables with a focus on correct preparation, termination and installation guidelines of audio/video, telecom/voice, and network/data cables.
