DESCRIPTION

This 40-hour course is designed to introduce the students to the requirements for PV installation and to prepare for writing the CSA PV Installer certification exam. The course will explore the photovoltaic theory, how solar modules are constructed, the parts of both a standalone and grid interactive PV system, Canadian Electrical Code requirements and detailed calculations for both a grid interactive and a standalone system with limited battery back-up.

The hands-on portion will include a practical installation of a solar generating system. This will allow the students to apply what they have learned throughout the theoretical portion of the course. The equipment to be installed includes modules, racking, combiner box and inverter conductors, disconnects, AC panel and meter which will be installed on a mock-up of a roofing section.
