DESCRIPTION

As of April 1st, 2019, no Union member shall be dispatched without up-to-date training in any of these courses which are requested by an employer at dispatch. Courses will be offered during weekdays, evenings and Saturdays to accommodate all members.

In this one-day course, students will learn to recognize and provide interventions for life-threatening emergencies until medical aid arrives. The Emergency First Aid course is geared towards educating citizens about the prevention of emergencies and how to react to an emergency should one arise. Compulsory modules include Roles and Responsibilities of the First Aider, Casualty Management, Resuscitation and AED, Severe Bleeds and Wound Care, Burns and Medical Conditions.

This course requires a 3-year renewal.
